When people think of a fire department, they think putting out house fires is either all or most of what we do. MLVFD does so much more.

About

Air
Operations

IMG_1489.JPG

When someone needs to be evacuated by air for a medical emergency, we have a landing zone across the street the station, or can set up one on the fly.

Vehicle Fire

Vehicle fires happen more often than people think. Maintence issues like leaky oil and fluids are a major cause.

Water

We have two water rescue craft for rescues in the lake as well as having swift water rescue trained personnel and equipment.

Search and
Rescue

The Medina Lake area has rolling hills, lake area and open country. When someone gets lost, we start a search and rescue operation.

Rescue

Rescue can be anything from someone falling off a cliff, to being trapped by heavy equipment.

Vehicle
Accidents

When vehicle accident's happen, we get on scene quickly and prevent further accidents from occurring. Our Medical trained people start taking care of victims until EMS arrives. We also have extrication gear (Jaws of Life) on several fire apparatus and can cut entrapped people out of cars when needed.

Medical

The number one call we respond to is medical calls. Either from accidents, on going medical issues or sudden onset, we have first responders for medical emergencies.

Our medically trained people work directly with Bandera County EMS. Teamwork is an essential part of emergency medical care.

Community
Service and Education

We support our community through educational events at the local school, National Night Out, and other local events.

Wildland
Fire

Lakehills is part of Texas Hill country, and as such we have a lot of open space and wildland. Wildland fires are the main fires we put out. Fire safety on the public's part is a major driver of this area.

Structure
Fire

We definitely put out structure fires, but thankfully our community does a good job at prevention. If you do have a structure fire though, count on us being there for you.
